THE DIRECTOR
Throughout the stretches of life, there
comes a moment in time when one says to oneself, “I’m going to rock this play.”
And that is how the adaptation of Shaw’s You
Never Can Tell gained its director, Farah Wahida binti Mohamad Idris.
Despite spontaneous decision making, the
18 year-old made her debut as a director and also scriptwriter when she was 17,
directing a modern version of Shakespeare’s Romeo
and Juliet. Now, she hopes to impress a larger crowd with Summer of Serendipity and bring about a
feeling of elevation and appreciation for the Arts.
STAGE MANAGER (I)
Hazeem bin Ahmayuddin has a large group
of supporters behind him and as such has been given the post as Stage Manager
(I). An active member of the Drama Club in his previous school, Hazeem’s
repertoire includes his experience in acting, directing and narrating.
Calm and affirming, one needs to look
through the mirage of his laissez-faire to see a dedicated young man performing
his duties as best as he can.
STAGE MANAGER (II)
Passion for the performing arts had Noor
Sofiyah Banu binti Mohd. Hanif reprising acting roles in a charity night and
the public staging of Dickens’ Christmas
Carol. This time, however, Sofiyah is going behind the scenes to take on
the challenge as Stage Manager (II).
With her curricular training in an arts
programme, Sofiyah is an asset in the development of the play and running it in
harmonious order.
This is Nurul Nadhirah Foong binti
Mohamad Faiz Foong’s first attempt at adapting an original play and her first
encounter with Shaw. However, as an avid reader, she has long been writing
short stories and poems since young age. Believing that books are the spice of
life, her interest in the human psyche makes her involvement in the play apt.
As an experienced debater, she has
managed to demand the best from everyone around her and with an angelic smile
on her face, no one would be able to hold a grudge against her.
SCRIPTWRITER
Nur Sabreena binti Aminuddin Baki is our
second scriptwriter as well as the Head of the Bureau of Public Relations. Using her previous scriptwriting experience during
her secondary education, Sabreena makes a brave attempt to adapt You Never Can Tell.
The scriptwriter for a P.Ramlee musical
that made her school proud, Sabreena also represented her alma mater in gamelan
performances. Along with her experience in managing cultural nights and formal
dinners, Sabreena is currently the dependable mediator between advisors and students,
churning ideas and helping to realize them in this musical.
